PURPOSE
Aggie Gentz is an alumni-based organization established in 2015 to take the true spirit of Aggie Pride & connect it with the heart of our alma mater, the alumni, to create a legacy of giving back. The mission of this scholarship is to provide need-based financial assistance to NC A&T State University students to cover their college expenses.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The Aggie Gentz Scholarship is based on financial need. Scholarships are awarded on a need basis specifically for students whose parents fall in a low-to-middle income bracket.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Scholarships awards will be used towards college expenses. Scholarship funds will be paid and applied directly to the student’s University account unless otherwise specified. Scholarships are awarded each semester and students will have the option to reapply. The Aggie Gentz Scholarships are awarded without regard to race, color, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. Scholarships awarded are based upon the availability of funds & additional qualifying criteria.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
-Applicants must be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.
-Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
-Students must be officially enrolled as a full-time student at North Carolina A&T State University and at least a second semester Freshman at the time of application submission. It is MANDATORY that all student Aggies who receive scholarships participate in the Aggie Gentz Student Development Institute (AGSDI) Ascension Leadership Cohort
-Applicants must have completed at least one semester with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
TIMELINE
-All applicants must complete and submit a scholarship application by December 15, 2024. Please note: applications that are incomplete, late, or illegible will NOT be considered.
NEW SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS MUST PROVIDE:
-Completed application form
-A college transcript (unofficial is acceptable)
-Proof of full-time enrollment
-A copy of their 2023-2024 Student Aid Report (SAR)
-Demonstrated financial need
-(Optional but recommended) Two references from a guidance counselor, professor, or other community member who may attest to the student’s need
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
-Scholarships will be awarded for the Spring 2025 semester.
-Scholarship payments will apply to the student’s account after their grades from the previous semester have been received. Students must receive a 2.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale.
-Applicants must provide their name, address, phone number, email address, and student ID to assure payment is applied to their student account in a timely manner.
-Award amounts will be distributed the semester AFTER a student’s application has been approved.
CRITERIA FOR SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
-All recipients are required to maintain at least a 2.5 GPA during the semester the scholarship was received.
-Scholarship recipient’s account will reflect scholarship funds ONLY after their grades from the previous semester and proof of their enrollment for Spring 2025 semester have been received.
-Any allocated amounts not used by the close of the semester will be returned to the Aggie Gentz Scholarship Fund to support future applications.
